As an outdoorsman I voted against this amendment because I did my research and came to the conclusion this type of stuff would happen. Anytime, you give legislators money they are going to try and use it for their own pet project, etc. I am not one bit surprised the money is not being used for what it was suppose to be used for. The yes voters got dupped.

a phrase in the amendment that says that the new revenue "must supplement traditional sources of funding for these purposes and may not be used as a substitute." Our elected people are all starting to act like God and over look the constitution. Its not just Obama anymore. Time to out vote those in office and let the next vote show how we feel about using the money we voted for clean water for what ever they want and then cut the PCA funds from them. They were doing a good job and things were moving along well. Will all this work be lost becasue of funding now / Those that are stealing that money should all have their names in the paper like other criminals do. Im sick of being taken advantage of as a tax payer. This will continue unless we get new people in and give the reason why we voted for them. Stop rapeing our funds.

Surprising how many of us who have spent our lives in the outdoors were against this amendment. Some of the very reasons outlined here in this article were our concerns. When the pie is in the fridge, it seems everyone wants to grab a piece.

From the start, the key point of contention was a phrase in the amendment that says that the new revenue "must supplement traditional sources of funding for these purposes and may not be used as a substitute." What part of this does the legislature not understand? The real flaw here is not the Legacy Amendment, it's cutting core funding and using Legacy funds to back-fill, all so we can preserve tax cuts that broke the budget in the first place.

No recker, the voters didn't get duped. Republicans got elected. Make no mistake, these funding cuts would have happened anyway, conservatives don't give a damn about the outdoors (the real dupe job btw) and are looking for a way to destroy the amendment in its entirety. They don't think they can get a repeal passed by referendum, so they kill the amendment by proxy, killing all of the existing environmental infrastructure and forcing the amendment monies to take their place. I know the real villans here, its the same as the old villans, the same as it will ever be, conservatives.

You should just be thankful that the Legacy funds are there, otherwise you'd have nothing. By the way, is the water clean yet like you promised when this tax increase was passed?

recker - Me too. I did a bit of research and found what you did. Too easy to divert money. Not a well defined ammendment.

It was simply a question of "when" this sort of thing would occur. This is why the entire amendment was a poor idea.
