After an 0-4 start in Big Ten play, a new offense and new lineup helped the U win four of its next five games. Will the transformation last?

If Bruce Weber's team was better coached, the players would have stood there and let Austin Hollins drive in for his two point play with less than 5 seconds to go so the Gophers lose by 1. Gophers got lucky on this one at the end. The team is playing better now that Coach Smith finally figured out that Joe Coleman is a player that needs to be on the floor more. Now if he realizes that Eliason needs to play more minutes, the Gophers could continue to be respectable in the BT.

With Eliason out with an ankle, this could be a bad Wednesday night... Can the gophers beat Iowa with a player that is half step slow in defense? They couldn't last time. To beat them this time, the other 4 will have to play at their faster speed instead of slowing down for him, leave the slow one to fend for himself, and hope for the best. The alternative is for them to slow down -that will likely be a loss.

Gophers must win tonight to get back to .500 in the conference and show they are a for real team. Guards or no guards we have to play better and beat a scruffy team like iowa (which stands for I Outta Went Around).

dcubed: What goes around come around...Illinois did not deserve to win the first game and Minnesota did not deserve to win this one. The season series worked out as it should have with each winning a game they didn't deserve.

Iowa will be a good test to see if they local lads can continue to play well enough to win and not choke it away at the end with missed free throws, out-of-control drives to the basket and so on. Go Gophers!
