What a great story! I was a college distance runner of the same era as Carter. Fortunately I never had to run against him, but I remember seeing him run at the U of M. He is so lucky to have Charlotte as a friend and companion. They appear to treat each other as equals. She is an exceptional person--far beyond her years!

We should all probably take a cue from their friendship and do something special out of kindness for someone we know is facing struggles of their own. The world is better because of relationships like this.

Sometimes I get thru the A,B,C,and D sections of the paper and wonder, with all the bad news in the world, why I keep my subscription. Then I get to the E and read a story like this one and realize for the most part, the world and it's people are good. Thanks for a beautiful breath of fresh air.
