Forget Alexi Casilla. The guy isn't a major league player. How many chances does the guy get. Time to cut him loose and play someone else.

This guy is nothing more then a AA player and does not belong on a MLB roster.

I disagree. He has had some really bad streaks where I could understand your opinion but has had some really great streaks as well. In 2008 was one of the best #2 hitters in the majors, batting .313 with 39 RBI and 38 runs scored in 62 games. He was a real spark plug. Then he had the wrist injury that they said would end his year and probably should have since he came back 3 weeks later and was terrible. 2009 was admittedly a horrible year. Can he not be forgiven for that? In 2010 he hit .276 and when he filled in for Hudson for a stretch he outplayed him offensively and defensively when we really needed it. In 2011 he had a horrible April but then had a very good May, June and July before getting hurt. He sparked the team's winning streak more than anyone in June. The guy has more clutch hits than anyone over the last 3 years and I am talking really big clutch hits, is coming off a great winter season. He was our best infielder last year and even with the bad April he had a better OPS last year than Morneau, Young, Valencia, Span, Revere, Hughes, Nishioka, Benson, Tosoni, Plouffe and Repko and he is the guy you guys want gone just because of one bad month last year and one bad year three years ago?

Sorry Dantes929. I agreed with everything you said except when you said Casilla outplayed Hudson defensively in 2010. Hudson was staedy as a rock for us at second. Had Orlando not gotten hurt, he probably would have beaten out Canoe for the Gold Glove. He was that good. Casilla was the spark plug that ignited the Twins best winning streak last June. That's how he needs to play. I'm glad he's played well in Winter Ball. This Twins team is going to have to manufacture a lot of runs. Casilla has to play well and be a big part of that process.

Casilla has an occasional hot streak and gets a lucky hit now and then but he would be at the end of the bench on most MLB teams and the elite teams would not even roster someone of his abilities.

If there is a place on a MLB roster for Nick Punto there is a spot for Casilla!!

This guy gets a spot on the roster every year and every year he fails. When are the Twins going to wake up and see he is not the answer.

I agree with most of you Casilla shows flashes of brilliance...followed by valleys of ineptitude. Each season I keep hoping this will be the year he finally puts it all together for a full season. But, it has only happened once in 2008 when he hit .281 with 7 home runs and 50 RBI. And, 2010 was decent. But, he's hasn't recaptured the solid overall play of the 2008 season. This might be his last shot with the Twins. He was a train wreck in the field last season. He must improve 1000 fold in that area...hit better and stay healthy. Casilla hasn't proven the hype about his All-Star potential that Joe Mauer always speaks about. I'm not expecting that...but better than 2011!

The comparison of Punto and Casilla is not equal. Punto has been proven to play major league defense, even if you don't like his hitting. Casilla has been a failure-very inconsistent. I can't believe the Twins are bringing this minor leaguer back. Again, it shows no commitment to improving the roster. The guy should have been cut and released last year.
