Zgoda: Love deal produces some hope and anger

The All-Star didn't get all he wanted with this contract, but if the move makes the Wolves competitive long-term, it's worth it.

Thanks for clearing that up, Jerry. The national pundits who criticized Kahn don't know what they're talking about. Guys like Hollinger saying it was stupid not to lock up love for 5 years, and to give him an out in 3. He couldn't have been more wrong. This turned out to be a win win for both parties. Either way, Kevin will get his 5 years, probably 6, and get paid more money than if he had gotten the 5 year max. I love this deal. I didn't even think or know about the bird rights allowing us to have 2 max players on the team. Get ready for the next 10 years of successful, fun TWolves basketball to watch and enjoy. It's been such a long wait. I'm happy it's finally over. Bring on San Antonio! WoooHooo!

Sounds like his brother is upset he won't get more of the Timberwolves' cash. The Beach Boys Money must be running out.

I'm so HAPPY for a 23 year old that "worked" his entire life for 61 million dollars, this should give medical doctors, policemen, firemen,& school teachers hope. the real tradegy is the people sitting in the stands paying for this "entertainment"!Anyone want to bet than when contract is up he's back in California,a multi-millionaire at 27!

I think that Love and Rubio will only get better with time. One is 23 and the other is 21. This is a great deal for Love and a great deal for wolve's fans.

What a misleading headline if you didn't read the entire article!!

Kahn should be fired after this debacle. Check that... he should have never been hired. He is in way over his head and a joke.

I personally think it makes absolute sense. While I understand Love's frustration, thankfully, he is smart enough to see the forest for the trees (or at least had someone smarter advise him as such). If he had signed the 5-yr deal, Rubio would likely have been as good as gone once his contract is over.

No different than Mauer.

What if Love has a serious injury over the course of the next 3 years and is less effective on the court? What then?

Now offer Eric Gordon a big deal with that extra cash since he didn't accept the Hornets offer! A Love-Rubio-Gordon-Williams core can only get better over the next 4-5 years!
