Joe Mauer made the rounds on Thursday as a member of the Twins caravan, and he sounded eager to put the toughest season of his career behind him.

I know he's being paid to be the all-world catcher. But I'd like to see Mauer move to first, and Morneau move to DH. It will make Mauer a better hitter if he's not in the crouch all game, and it will give Morneau a fighting chance of playing most of the season. That is assuming Morneau can play at all. Arguably, it also improves the defense at first. Mauer was pretty good there.

Why is he smiling after a horrible season? That's right... $23 million of OUR money.

Malingering or is it Mauerlingering? How was last season the toughest for him? It was far tougher to witness his payrol thievery.

I wonder how many season ticket holders are smiling that way after last season? Looks like the Twins will have a tough time just to get out of the AL Central cellar , let alone catch up with the Tigers this season

one73rdherdJan. 26, 1211:19 PM Why is he smiling after a horrible season? That's right... $23 million of OUR ______________LOL..why would any athlete want to stay in this state dealing with a miserable fan base like this? Tell me...exactly how much of that 23 million do you contribute? And why shouldn't he be smiling? Should he never smile again? Never have any emotion other than despair because some fans can't get past a bad season? Did last year's 99 loss year traumatize you in some way? Do you have post traumatic stress disorder?

It must be tough to play baseball for DannyV, since he gets thrown under the bus by his manager so much...

Sure hope Mauer can stay healthy this year and that last year was just bad luck and not him being fragile...

Unless one73rdheard is a screen name for one of the Pohlads, how can he say Joe's $23mm is OUR money? Did the Twins ever force him to spend a dime? What is amusing is the same fans to bemoan the big salary are the fans that would have ripped the Twins is they would have let Joe go to the Yankees or Angels or Red Sox. The guys spending OUR money is not the Pohlads; it the guy in the White House.

Complainers are out tonight! Man, give the guy a break. And I don't want to see any of these screen names jumping on the wagon when Joe hits 355 this year! And I love the comment about the obimator spending all money! Dead on!!!!!
