QBs' intangibles impress assistant

The Vikings aren't in the market for quarterbacks this offseason. But they have three interesting prospects with which to work on the North team at this week's Senior Bowl: Wisconsin's Russell Wilson, Boise State's Kellen Moore and Michigan State's Kirk Cousins.

It goes to show that playing QB requires intelligence and quick decision making, not a cannon of an arm and be 6'4". All 3 of these guys can make it if they get on the right team and develop. Drew Brees come to mind as someone who is small and doesn't have a great arm, but in the right system, he's prolific!

"The Vikings aren't in the market for quarterbacks this offseason." Exactly, so why make this the lead story for your post?

It's nice to know that our QB coach thinks so highly of these QBs. However, unless the team is ready to ditch its investment in Ponder, I'm not sure I see the point. This team needs help in several other areas, but hopefully not at QB. Between Ponder and Webb, this team should have at least one quality future QB. What these guys need now are WRs to throw to, and OL to keep the pash rush off of them. Throw in some DBs to help the defense, and this team might have a surprisingly good 2012 season.

And, pray tell, what exactly has Christian Ponder done or even showed us that would make the Vikings not in the market for a quarterback? Robert Griffin the Third will be available in April.

Wow,the Vikings actually think Ponder/Webb will get them in the playoffs. With the q.b.'s we have in our div.we have no choice, but to go after R.G.3.he will someday make the vikings look like a fool if we dont take him.

Yes, RGIII playing in college against a vast majority of players that will never make the NFL is obviously a better QB than Ponder playing 10 games in the toughest division in football. Why can't guys that have been evaluating football talent their entire lives not see what anonymous bloggers on this website obviously know?

Drew Brees is bigger than both these guys, and also one of the smartest players in the game right now. Don't compare these guys to Drew Brees. The simple fact remains that QB's under six feet tall will rarely get a chance to even make the practice squad of an NFL team.

@fgwippel- This team will be drafting a QB in the near future I guarantee it. Ponder is not a franchise QB and Webb still hasn't learned how to run an offense in the NFL. Moore, Cousins or Wilson would instantly challenge Ponder for the starting spot and they all will probably be available in the late 2nd or 3rd rounds.

@conormacleod- Ponder hardly played well in those games and showed once again that he isn't durable enough to make it through an NFL season. There isn't anything Christian Ponder can do on the football field that Russell Wilson can't do and Wilson does a lot of things better than Ponder.

If we don't get RGIII with this draft, we will be picking first next season and have the whole lot of QB's to choose from. Ponder is not the answer.
