Look, no matter how much society complains about doctors not being under pressure, this article and attached links should help show how that doctors ARE under pressure, especially when compared with so much of the work force who are overpaid pencil-pushers sitting in downtown offices chewing the gossip and pencil erasers most of the day.

I agree. Doctors invest years for education; owe a fortune in student loans, yet the insurance companies and HMO's want to pay them not much more than minimum wage and tell them how to practice medicine. It's gotten to be a thankless career.

In medical school aspiring doctors are taught that medicine is nothing less and nothing more than pure business. As a consumer of that business I have a right to know what disciplinary action has been taken against a potential doctor so I can make an informed choice before my life is in that doctors hands. We have access to information on other businesses such as landscapers and plumbers but when the information is more critical, such as with doctors, we are denied those details. If we had known my sisters doctor had a history of making errors in the operating room we would have chosen someone more competent. Instead we trusted the wrong person and now my sister lives her days bed ridden, completely dependent on caregivers, having suffered severe brain damage. It is criminal to not follow through with disciplinary action against doctors AND nurses and criminal that we can't have access to that history.
