I'm on your side Rev. Bauer; keep the loser Vikings out of there - and out of MN too! Those who criticize your Block Party for raising a few dollars for the church are the same ones who support billionaire Zygi's efforts to fleece the taxpayers out of $650+ million dollars for an entertainment facility.

I'm not excited about the state paying a lot of money for the Vikings stadium, but if the Basilica wants to control what goes on in property adjacent to it, then they have to buy the adjacent property. The Strib showed an overhead map of the site on Friday, and I was astounded to see that there is a freeway between the Basilica and the site. The Basilica wants veto power over development that is on the other side of the freeway? That is not reasonable.

If the building isn't safe, it should be condemned. Maybe the church could take some of the millions they spend on politics and fix the basilica.

I don't understand how this would hurt their homeless outreach program, and I believe this would solve their parking issues except it would suck if a church goer had to pay. I believe the Basilica could benefit greatly from this, you have an additional minimum of 20k people walking by your church 8 sundays a year, you can raise more money than the block party with some new fundraising.

No matter how one looks at it, the opposition to the Linden Ave. site by the Catholic church and Rev. Bauer is ultimately nothing more than NIMBY. Sorry, but if the stadium is built (and that's still an IF) it will be in someone's back yard. I wouldn't want it in mine either, but the Linden Ave. site looks to be the best compromise.

Build this thing on the Dome site and be done with it. If it's going to be in Minneapolis, no other downtown sites should even be considered at this point. Zygi will just have to tough it out at the U for a few years.

Tear it down and use its a paking lot for the tailgaters. Win-win for everyone.

I think the Basilica is beautiful, but it's on the other side of the highway from the potential development. I also get that it's near a highway now and is susceptible to vibration, but I don't understand their logic building a church in an area adjacent to downtown and the warehouse district expecting no new development near it.

Gee, what better could you have? Walk right from church right in to the game.

Don't be fooled by Rev. Bauer's "concerns"....they will be quickly forgotten with a substantial donation to the church "collection tray". When the powers that be want property from ordinary citizens, they just condemn the property but the church has the power to illicit a payoff.
