Wild GM Fletcher desperate, and other teams know it

The Wild's injuries and poor play make it that much more difficult for the GM to add a skilled forward.

I'd like to see Bobby Ryan in a Wild uniform. But Fletcher knows he can't mortgage the future, ala Doug Risebrough, to do that. I don't see many other names being shopped around that would be worth the probable asking price.

We probably weren't an elite offense ? Really Fletch, what was the tip off ? You were looking before Koivu went out, really and what were you offering? Zanon and a bag of chips? This team hasn't been able to score since before you got here and your big move this season was essentially a swap, Remove Bruno, Havlat and Burns and add Heatley and Seto. THAT'S IT ! I was all in favor of the moves BUT you added NOTHING and then you expect great hard working third liners like Brodzy to bail you out ? There is no free lunch in the NHL Chuck, so if you want quality players you'll have to pay the going rate and quit hoarding your prospects. Hiring rookie coaches and refusing to deal your mid first round picks makes me think your in this for your ego.

Washburn, what were you thinking before the season started, that this team would be the best in the league? This team is one or two years away from being really good, not now. The Wild have some really good young players coming and to trade one of the pieces for a player they may be better than would be stupid. Also, the asking price right now for players is very high because most teams are still in the playoff hunt. Something will be done with Harding and another piece to get a top six forward and it will happen in the next week or two. Lets just hope they arn't out of the playoffs by then.

People seem to think all of these rookies will become full fledged NHL stars. The Wild will be very very fortunate if 3 of them become consistently good. Why do you think the Ducks wont deal Perry or Ryan for prospects and picks? Its because its a crap-shoot! They want proven NHL commodities in return. If Fletcher can somehow leverage some of these prospects and maybe a player for elite scoring he must do it!

I have no sympathy for the plight of the Wild. They are a cog in the NHL wheel that does nothing to halt the cheap play causing so many player injuries. Charging, boarding and hit to the head calls are rare and no serious consequences even if they are called.

Washburnik, nice poster and it is true what you saying. The team lost the value of team because the leadership let them get off track. If your not an offensive team you better defend well and focus hard on yor special teams. The team during this losing 14 out of 16 games has tumbled in the goals against department...... Some smuck blooger like myself should not know what is going to happen before it happens, Mister Russo talked about the dguys geting more involved because of injuries and i said watch Watch what happens to Zidlichky and sure enough minus 3 against the Flyers. Yes Its hard to defend against a rushing d guy but the risks for the Wild is greater than the benefits and a good example of that is Zids being on the ice for 3 goals in phily...... This would not be happening if lemaire was here with this team

Re klayton6....Wash has been posting the basically the same post every day for the last two weeks. He actually thinks the current roster is one or two moves away from a Cup. I am guessing that he only watches Wild games and has no idea how HUGE the Wilds talent gap is from teams like Det, SJ, Boston , ect.

The best chance for the Wild to salvage the season is to change their system. We don't have the horses to use the Houston/Pittsburgh system. Adapt and use the JL trap which will at least give us a chance each game. Give Hitchcock a call and ask him how he turned his squad around.

Fletcher makes a lot of sense in this article. But one thing Russo fails to mention is that of all those teams "competing" for the same talent as the Wild, very few have the cap room and prospect resources the Wild do; few, if any, have a #2 goalie that could be a #1 elsewhere. Fletcher has some distinct advantages. After all, isn't this part of the reason we're cultivating so many prospects and have left so much cap space, for this reason? I say make a play for both Prospal and Ruutu. Then, you've got a first line and you become that much deeper when/if Koivu and/or PMB/Lats ever makes it back.

I think it would be better if the Wild were sellers at the deadline. This team has plenty of cap space to spend come free agency and we aren't going anywhere right now. Even if we somehow manage to make the playoffs we all know this team isn't good enough to go anywhere. . . yet. Get rid of current players but don't trade away picks or prospects, please.
