What downtown Minneapolis needs is people to stay past 6 pm. the answer? Figure out how to get that Lund's up and running. I can do everything downtown EXCEPT buy groceries (something the new Target format might change). Look at Uptown as the perfect example: a variety of grocers, clubs and restaurants galore, a wide variety of other businesses. It works and people continue to want to live there (at least until it becomes prohibitively expensive and NE becomes the new Uptown, something that's already happening). After the infrastructure is in place, it's about encouraging people to stay downtown. Musicians in the skyways, event's happening in the winter, etc. If all of these things are put together, why wouldn't any Target/Macy's/Wells Fargo/ING/Dain Rauscher/AmeriPrise/various ad industry people want to live, work and play here?
