A lot of things have changed from the Sesame St I grew up watching in the 70's to what it has become. For example, the opening credits used to show kids playing on a construction site. The adults like Grover & Maria used to invite the children to their homes. Cookie Monster actually ate *gasp!* cookies. I can't say I recall seeing babies being breast fed, but at that age it's probably something I wouldn't have noticed in the first place. I was all about Cookie Monster, Oscar & Snuffleupagus.

Better yet, why the need to show babies being fed at all, regardless of the means, on Sesame Street? That would solve things. Why do folks feel the need to politicize Sesame Street, or the manner in which women feed their children (a personal decision)?

Umm, no one is politicizing anything. last i checked Sesame St was all about teaching kids about the world around them. breastfeeding is natural. kids are curious. showing breastfeeding moms on the show is perfect as it is perfectly natural. why are people so bothered by nature?

So, by tbot2000's logic, Sesame Street should show couples having intercourse since it is a, quote on quote, perfectly natural act? Good argument, not!

I wish my life was so simple that this was the biggest issue I had to deal with.

Maybe I'm too simple-minded, but I don't see the need to show breast feeding. Yes, it is natural and kids are curious and Sesame Street is about learning; however, not all moms nurse and not all parents care to have this discussion with their 4 year olds. Kids who grow up with a mom nursing younger siblings will learn about it earlier than other kids, but I don't see the issue with that. No one taught me about nursing as a kid and I didn't grow up to be uninformed or opposed to it.
