Paul Bargas is determined to pitch this spring, a year after being stricken with a debilitating disease discovered to be brain cancer.

Hats off to Paul Bargas! He's lucky he found a match for his stem cell transplant. Many do not and they end up dying. You can help others like Paul by going to marrow.org and joining the Be The Match registry. It doesn't take much work to join the registry and you can end up saving somebody's life.

Looks like the Strib has found themselves a columnist other than Reusse who can write without tripping readers on pop culture, similes and metaphors. Scoggins continues to be readable and informative.

I think if nothing else, Bargas needs to throw out the first pitch this season if he cannot make it back. He deserves the feel of the mound cancer is a monster. I applaud his efforts!
