Not only does this bunch keep coming up with new ways to corner the market on hapless ineptitude, it's compounded by their classless, half-baked stab at undoing the initial botch job.

A letter placed in Thornton's chair telling her the firing has been suspended? No one with the guts to face her? Seriously?

I didn't think you could suspend a firing. Once you fire someone their gone. You could then rehire them, but firing someone is not an ongoing active you can suspend. I suppose these Republicans meant to say, "We probably overstepped our authority when we fired you in order to politically highjack this organization. See, your efforts to demand accountability and transparency for the expenditure of public funds, undercut our desire to prove government is inheritantly disfunctional. Besides how are we going to redirect the lottery money to our campaign contributors with the public looking over our shoulder?"

Incidentally, a classic example of why unions are needed. Not that they are perfect (IMHO, they could be much better), but employees need protection to ensure they can't be fired without any notice for arbitrary and capricious reasons. This was a classic example of what Republicans believe about the rights of employees, and it should scare everyone who isn't in the ruling class.

Just wondering if any of those commenting here are actually aware of some of the projects funded with lCCMR money. They're a complete joke. Total and complete waste, especially when we have so many invasive species thriving in our state and the LSOHC refuses to spend their money on anything but more land acquisitions.

Zellers power hungry attempt backfired (again). Clowns in the house, clowns in the Senate. I said it earlier that once a lawyer gets involved in this, Zellers would be another black mark on the GOP. We need to get MN back on the right track. To do this, vote these ideologs out in 2012.

rauljfu: "Just wondering if any of those commenting here are actually aware of some of the projects funded with lCCMR money." That is not the issue here, raul. This was a power play by the GOP, not oversight of expenditures. Firing the director may save a few bucks for a while, but is Thornton's salary the real issue? No, the GOP just put their foot in it and now are trying to quietly to clean up the mess they made.

Hmm... why would Republicans have a problem with fiscal accountability of recipients of state money from the Legacy Amendment? Hmmmm...

Lets just say she objected to a privy applicant that she said hey your getting more money than you needed so your application was in doubt. Now see who they donated to their campaign. So she is the watchdog and becasue she bit one of the favorites they wanted to euthanize her and get a new watchdog that they could train. Then somebody figured out we don't have the authoirty to kill this dog, put her back on the watch and hope she really doesn't increase her bite. oh and by the way we the republicans have already to many people looking at our financial dealings, so we need to go quite before more crap starts to show up.
