Indians want State money to educate their members but refuse to pay taxes on their gaming revenue. I'm all for educating every child but I have a problem with the imbalance of this relationship.

Ken - get your facts straight. I am pleased to see this happening after the butchering that Pawlenty did on Indian Education at MDE.

"Indians want State money to educate their members but refuse to pay taxes on their gaming revenue." It's a small price to pay for stealing their land.

Obviously Dayton and this group will be asking for money from the state. After all, “it’s for the children!” And once again we’ll see hundreds of millions spent trying to solve a societal problem that money can not, will not, and never will fix. If they want money, why not tap those tax-exempt tribal casinos to pay for this?

chefsharkey Jan. 10, 12 10:03 PM formergop - Who,exactly, did the Native Americans steal the land from? chefsharkey- Show me any piece of land anywhere in the world and I can show you a place that, somehwere through history, was the previous property of one group and then lost to another. Did ther Native Americans get screwed here? Yeah, they did. But, I didn't do it and you didn't do it ( or maybe you did, I don't know you)so let's stop beating ourselves for an injustice which happened a very long time ago. The Germans feel bad about the Holocaust, but the Jews aren't catered to there. The descendants of the Carthenagenians don't whine to the Italians or cause them to feel bad about themselves. Give it up now. The Mdewankoton ( excuse my certain mispelling) Sioux conquered other tribes in this area too. It's the way the world works.
