Is this going to be televised? I was wondering how they were making ice in 45 degree temps, but the pictures show the cooling tubes under the ice - neat design.

From the Red Bull Ice Crash Event Page: It will only be televised live at the following bars: Billy's On Grand, Wild Tymes, Great Waters, Jimmy's, Bulldog, Shamrock's, Tiffany's, O'gara's, Zorbaz - On Gull, and Alary's. The Red Bull Crashed Ice competition will also air nationally on NBC on Saturday, January 21 from 1.00pm-3.00pm (CST)

Why does the author think Quebec is a strange spot for this sport to be popular? Hockey-Skating-Quebec-Canada! Seems logical to me.

bookman10 - the only similarities between this and high school hockey are the ice and skates. Are you equally outraged when there's a hockey game at the Xcel? (I would argue that you should be moreso). Put away the strained outrage and enjoy the spectacle.

These guys are far more likely to get hurt in car accidents on their way to the venue. Perhaps we should all just cower in our homes and hope for the best.
