Ball movement picks up as Beasley sits out

Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman emerged after Sunday's 93-72 victory ended their two-game losing streak and remarked how the ball moved better offensively against the Wizards that afternoon than it had before in this still young season.

Maybe it's good for Beasley to sit a few games out and watch the team concept. He's got to learn!

No cool at all K.Love not good at all. Not a leader. You need to build up your teammates not tear them down. Adelman said the ball moved well in the Spurs game & Beasley played in that game. So to say the ball never moves with him in the game is a lie. I have rewatched some of the games and there are several series in a row during a game in which Beasley never touches the ball, and then when he finally gets a chance to touch the ball he shoots. In the flow of the game when Beasley touches the ball on a consistent basis he doesn't shoot it everytime he touches it. There are trust issues between all of the players. Beasley doesn't seem to trust that if he passes he will ever get the ball back. His teammates seem believes if they passes him the ball he will shoot it. They are both correct. Beasley has to trust that his teammate will look for him and get him the ball in a position to score and succeed. Beasley is and has always been a scorer, that has always been his identity. It will take time for him to learn to trust his teammates. They need to help him along in his transition.

@ whysideas, I don't seem to understand what transition you're looking to get Beasly. He is simply too inconsistent for such a talented guy. He either is lacking in confidence or he has got and attitude problem that rubs off on his game on the court.

If you were to rewatch the two most recent losses (today's game against the Wizards means less than nothing), you will notice that Love actually held the ball much more than Beasely. IMO, before attacking Beasely, we have two much more worthy attackees: Johnson and Darko. Johnson is beyond terrible. He plays scared because he IS scared. Ke knows deep down in his heart that he doesn't belong out there. And Darko, though he's in better shape and has some value defensively, has also been remodeling his doghouse in anticipation of spending most of the season in it. Beasely will come around, especially when Rubio starts. It's Adelman's fault for not starting Rubio, not Beasely's. Remember, Beasely is on the court most of the time with a non-facilitating PG (Ridnour), an inept SG (Johnson), and hands of stone (Darko, I-can't-hit-a-bunny-to-save-my-life). Pretty hard to be successful in the NBA when three starters on your team wouldn't start on anyone else's team. I lost some respect for Love with his comments. Way to have your teammate's back, Kevin. And, Kevin, show us how good you all are without Michael by beating the Raptors tomorrow night.

I applaud KLove. He's only saying what everyone already knows. That Beasley is an offense stopper, a selfish "me first" player that only looks to shoot whenever a teammate passes him the ball. It just has to stop. All too often, the ball will go to Beasley, and everything stops while Beasley looks over the scene, bends over with the ball and waves it back and forth across his feet, and then inevitably tries to hoist up a contested 20 foot jumper, or get the ball stripped. Beasly is the epitome of a selfish, me first player. No wonder Riley was only too happy to get rid of him. Do you think anyone would give us 2 second round picks for him? If so, jump on it! Bease still hasn't figured out the meaning of teamwork. His teammates don't like playing with him, because he never passes the ball, opting instead to hoist up clanker after clanker. The day we trade him is the day we get that much closer to the playoffs. Rest, Beasley. Rest...

Basically, if you gave all of Beasley's minutes to Williams, the Wolves could easily have won 4-5 games by now. No, I'm not joking. Beasley is truly earth-shatteringly bad. To put in perspective what a selfish chucker Beasley is, he ranks 8th among small forwards the NBA in FGA per 48 minutes (50 minutes minimum), but fifty-first in true shooting. No, not 51st in the NBA, 51st among small forwards. That means that essentially all of the starting SFs and two-thirds of the back-up SFs in the league are shooting better than he is, but he's shooting 22 shots per 48. And I don't keep stats for "contested 22-footers per 48" but having watched every Timberwolves game I'm going to guess he leads the league by a fat margin, ahead of even Kobe (I'm guessing that's the reason that he's 25th among small forwards at getting to the line, despite all those shots). Oh, yeah, and he turns the ball over a shitton. In short, Beasley is the very definition of a player that shoots you out of games. Every single time they choose to iso Beasley instead of just letting Ridnour or Rubio create off the dribble / pick-n-roll, a Timberwolf pup dies in the wild. Williams is as turnover prone as Beasley, but I can chalk Williams' TOs up to rookie mistakes and a general rookie "over-eager" attitude, which he may learn from. Most of his TOs come from ill-advised passes. Beasley, however, is a third-year player; the vast majority of his turnovers come from him trying to "create a shot" and I don't expect him to change anytime soon.

Manolive, while Beasely has a ways to go as a passer, I don't think the tape supports your opinion. I have seen him do more passing this year. Also more hustle and more defensive effort. I don't like it when he gets moody or acts unprofessionally, but I expect him to improve in those areas. Last year everyone was ripping on Flynn as if he were the devil himself. The player who should be ripped on, IMO, is Johnson, not Beasely. And Flynn was injured. What's Johnson's excuse? Much of Beasely's struggles come from playing with last year's starting five. The only legit starters from that unit are Love and Beasely. Ridnour would be a great sixth man, Beasely needs to play with Rubio.

I wonder if fans would like Beasley more if he did not have the tattoos?

Snoozecruz, more passing? Only when he's guarded so well, he has no other choice. He's tied with 6 other players as the 161st player in the league in assists at a whopping 1.0 assists per game, despite all the times he has his hands on the ball. Is it a coincidence the ball moves and we win by the largest margin of the season the first game he's out? Even coach Adelman joked about how much the ball movement improved with Beasley out. You have it backwards, snooze. Beas doesn't suck because of the players around him, the players around him suck because they're playing with him. He doesn't make anyone better, and his only concern is getting his shot off. Beas must go for the team to improve. I'm the biggest fan there is, and I want every player to do well, including Beasley. But I've had it with his play. This is a team game, and there's no room on it for prima donnas.
