Those in charge of Minnesota's top two sports teams are making matters worse by not dealing with the ugly reality of 2011.

The surest way to fix the Twins would be to fire Gardy! This is a guy who lets his players decide when they want to play and manages to turn a first place team into a last place team without breaking a sweat. The true failure of the Twins last year was a failure of leadership. Pure and simple. Fire Gardy. I'm out

The big difference is that Zyg needs to get a stadium, and the Vikings not only have never won it all, they haven't even been to a Super Bowl in two generations. And it won't be happening any time soon. So you're a loser of a team - the Vikings are under .500 since the millennium began, I believe, and you need a stadium, and you haven't shown any sense as an owner. Tough haul.

The Twins situation is unreal. They were the 2nd worst team in MLB last season and likely will be in the bottom five again. They seem oblivious to teams in the game that are efforting getting better. Why aren't they?

Good article Reusse, I for one appreciate reporters that aren't afraid to "call a spade a spade" instead of 100% homers like Sid and P.Allen who couldn't find the word "objective" in a dictionary if it were the only word in it. Why is it that fans and people like Reusse, Zulgad, Souhan etc. can understand what is wrong with the Twins and Vikings but the people in charge have blinders on???

its obvious the twins just dont get it they think as long as they put a team on the field people are going to watch just because it is outdoor baseball well big deal ryan thinks he is living in the 1950s by putting cheap players on the field and everybody going to like it well ryan better wake up because he has along way to go to make this a respectable team.

The Twins are like a Mel Brooks Comedy. Do every thing you can to drive away your Audience.

It was obvious by May 1 the Twins were going to have to rebuild. Same date applies for the Vikes. No shame in rebuilding, but I think the fans would like a little more acknowledgement that the people in charge agree the situation is much less than actually is. Remember not long ago the Twins had to rebuild in 1993. It took them about 8 seasons...

Terry Ryan is assembling the 2012 Twins precisely the same way he assembled his mid-nineties teams. Really, this is just 1997 all over again; just substitute Doumit, Carroll, and Marquis for Terry Steinbach, Roberto Kelly, and Bob Tewksbury. Truth is, Terry Ryan spent most of his GM tenure as a failure. And now...the guy simply hasn't a clue how to win in today's game. He just doesn't, no matter how many slaps on the back he gets from the local media. This organization desperately NEEDS to finally turn the page. New (fresh) GM, new manager, and a new ownership group. This is just sad and tired stuff.

As a former Twin Cities coach liked to say... "The truth can't be controversial." Reusse is writing the truth.

The Twins just need an Ace pitcher and the Vikings just need a superstar quarterback. The Twins could trade for or buy one and Vikings have a great opportunity to draft one, if the experts are correct. If neither team does this, it proves they don't want to win, they just want to rake in the money.
