Gophers fans should expect more than what they have seen from Tubby Smith's team.

A dedicated basketball practice facility only levels the playing field with the other D-1 schools we compete with for recruits. We are at a deficit without one.

Yes, a multi-million dollar dedicated practice facility for the twelve basketball players, and tear down the barn and get a new arena, and we will have a 2-13 record with that new facility and new arena befitting the slow basketball style... That'll be so spiffy.... It's undoubtedly the reason that Tubby's recruits can't shoot after 12 months in his program, that they play with the same fire as he coaches, why they know one play -inside - and why they leave the program and go play modern basketball... it's the facility -- right... And the I 35 bridge is for sale on ebay.. send cash...

I said repeatedly, when he was hired---look out--Kentucky got rid of Tubby for GOOD reasons. look at Ky. since he left.

A new AD should have a chance to make it right. First, a new coach, then get the facility.

C'mon! There's nothing wrong with Williams Arena! Every young BB player in the U.S. (male or female) would love to have the chance to play in an 83 year old batcave (doors opened 1928).

Finally someone points out Tubby faults. I like many was happy to see the Tubby hire and he did up grade, what Monson had going on. After a couple years, the program went south and continues to slide for all the reasons Scoggins and many of us had pointed out. Change sets a team back, but like football & Brewster, when the team stays at the bottom, change may be needed.

Chubby is laughing all the way to the bank as he pads his retirement portfolio from the U. What a joke! Clean house in Bierman Kaler.

The Gophers (football and basketball) will not compete for a Big Ten title for the next couple decades. College basketball has changed and the Midwest does not have the right type of athletes to support a strong team. Given the facilities and poor track record of the program, a rare MN athlete that has size and speed, will jump to an established program with attractive facilities and a chance at a title.

Smith's offense is a plodding mess, his mass substitution patterns are odd and his insistence on playing Blake Hoffarber at the point last season reeked of stubbornness. ----That just about covers it all. Couldn't agree more.

We need to look a little deeper here.Dan Monson was a hot young coach on the rise when he took the minnesota job.He came to Minnesota and tanked everyone said he was a bum.He goes to Long Beach St.and presto he is now hot young coach on the rise very succesful.Tubby comes here with only one national championship and 13 conferance titles in the last 15 years a legend in college basketball and he tanks. Now he is the bum. Maybe we need to look at ourselves a little harder and see what the real problem is and who the bum really is.Go ahead and fire Tubby see what new hot young coach wants to come to the grave yard of coaching carreers.
