Doesn't matter what a teams RPI is if all the coach's plays are 1990s basketball philosophy against 2010 basketball schemes.. and his one overused play is to shove the ball inside to 7 footers who shoot like guards no matter what the other team does... Note: of those coaches that came into the Big Ten around that time, the others now have ranked and contending teams.

I thought he was referring to the men's hockey team!

The team doesn't get any money for playing non-conference road games. The team badly needs the revenue -- that is why they play extra games at home.

Maximizing RPI is just part of the game. If we have people who are good at it, more power to them!

So....what is your point? That Sampson should not be more agressive going towards the basket? Really? That is the point of ypour column?

Tubby makes one factual comment about one of his players and it becomes the basis of an entire article ripping Tubby. Whether you like Tubby or not, this column is a bit unfair.

Read the column folks! Patricks point was Tubby is expecting Ralph III to play or do something he cant "Drive to the basket". Guess Tubby is like Leslie Frazer, over his head and the water keeps rising!

Ralph needs to be benched for a game or two until he comes out of his stupor or coma. Team plays better (and did so) when he is not on the floor.

This was hard to watch.I have been an ardent gopher fan for 40 years and have never felt this depressed. The players just seemed bewildered you could sence the frustration and see it on the players faces when their team mates didnt run the plays they had praticed and just stood around.I dont know the answer and neither does Tubby, you can only coach so much the players have to exicute. We made Iowa look much better than they actually are.The last 2 games they won were when their opponets shot 3 for 25 from 3 point range and only won by 2.Eventually they will run into some teams that can hit the 3.

No 3 point game, no strong inside presence, no rhythm on offense, other than that we played a good game.
