I agree with the need to appoint a GM, but I strongly disagree with their choice. The Wilf's personnel/leadership decisions seem to get worse each year. We need an innovative, forward thinking GM (and coach). Not some re-tread Dolphins flunkie.

Long time Vikings fan living in Atlanta. Time for me to cheer for Falcons-Vikings won't be a good team as Spielman a GM.....

Geez, same old people. Same old results. Nothing is going to change for the better. Vikings fans cannot catch a break. We fans have been forgotten. We needed new blood ... not the same. Failure continues ...

You've got to be kidding me. Well, the Lions are good and on the rise now, after a horrible span under the direction of Matt Millen. His eight-year tenure as head of the Lions franchise led to the worst eight-year record in the history of the modern NFL (31-97)... so a couple observations: 1) It can't ever get worse than that, and 2) It'll have to end someday, right?

GM in this organization stands for ... (G)utless (M)anagement

Wow. How many other businesses would promote someone who has overseen such a colossal collapse of the brand/product as the Vikings have experienced? It is mind-boggling, especially in the midst of pushing for taxpayer funding for a new stadium.

Oh good...can't wait to see what Spielman does with our 3rd pick. A punter perhaps? Maybe some Division 2 project like Tavaris Jackson? It won't surprise me in the least if we find yet another botched draft by the Vikings. I just hope they remember to wind their clocks beforehand...we cannot afford another "clockgate..."

Promote the guy who essentially assembled the team? What a joke. After the last few drafts and lack of talent acquired through FA, I'd fire Spielman and Frazier yesterday. I don't know who was in charge, but it sounds like both. McNabb, Ponder, extending Longwell, Erin Henderson, Cook, Loadholdt, McKinnie/Johnson, Greenway contract, AD contract, ALL THE SAFETIES, keeping Berrian, moving up to take Gerhardt, TJack, Moss, Aromashadu. ARE YOU FN KIDDING ME? SPIELMAN A PROMOTION? EFFFF YOUUUUU ZYGI!

I'm with yoyoyouyo and somguy. One of the people in charge of this debacle of a team is given more power. At least when things don't improve, we can put the blame on a particular person instead of this triangle of authority. Problem is it might take a couple years for the Wilf's to chuck the whole group out. Of course, they might have that new stadium they want and sell the team for a billion or so dollars then, so it might not be their call.
