Winter in Twin Cities back on hold: 40s expected to return

With the northward drift of the jet stream, expect unusual warmth to return, which will be good - or bad.

Good. I'll be able scrape that frozen slush off my driveway, and maybe the icy, untreated, unplowed residential side streets will become safe to drive on at more than 12 MPH.

After a brutal 2010-11 winter that included a wicked ice storm that turned a 20 minute drive into a 3 hour white knuckle nightmare, multiple blizzards, a dome collapse, a separated shoulder from a nasty ice fall and the capper - a minus 20 degree night that caused a burst pipe in my condo that forced me to live in a hotel for 3 months, I say BRING ON THE WARMTH! What a relief. I'm a MN lifer and love it here but trust me, we'll have plenty more harsh winters to "experience."
