Someone should clue Menden in that city gov't isn't the place to settle petty grievences. The fact that he tells you he has "a long list" but won't discuss it is truly cowardice. Hopefully, the voters are paying attention.

They all just adopted/accept a performance evaluation of the guy that said that his performance exceeded expectations and just a few weeks later, a guy tries to get him fired due to some past personal history between the two that he won't talk about? Not talking about some basis for a personal vendetta is good as he is an elected public servant who can in theory at least, be and act bigger than that. Hard to believe that the guy's performance could have changed so drastically in a few short weeks as to warrant his attempted firing.

Shame on Menden for apparently trying to settle past personal petty grievances . . . and at the TAXPAYERS EXPENSE!! After the administrator just recently received an unanimous favorable review, this has the stinking smell of putting personal issues ahead of good public policy. Shame!

"Commissioner Joe Wagner, who made the motion, said afterward that he went into the meeting thinking he had three votes on the five-person board." Funny...if he lined up two other votes ahead of time (outside of a public meeting) - which he appears to be saying - he would have violated public meeting laws. Sounds like the basis for a lawsuit.

"Funny...if he lined up two other votes ahead of time (outside of a public meeting) - which he appears to be saying - he would have violated public meeting laws." Not necessarily but true if conducted incorrectly. Time for the e-mails, cell records, and 'lunch expense' reports to be made publicly available because this screw-up has now made the commissioners seem untrustworthy.

Commissioner Wagner appears to be lashing out at any who dis-agree with him. Too bad, this is another example of the decline of behaviour of elected officials. Time to grow up and do the job you were elected to do.

Wagner said that he sensed that his being under criminal investigation was somehow partially Gary Shelton's faul

It was a very entertaining and enlightening meeting. The link is currently down but will be back (Jan 4 2012), it's amazing how much more the picture or video coverage is worth vs. simply reading the article. http://stream2.video.state.mn.us/mnoet/Viewer/?peid=f8343bea44c843a58b46bc05846195b31d Also available, via a link here: http://www.co.scott.mn.us/CountyGov/countyboard/Pages/CableBroadcastInfo.aspx

It’s most troubling to me that regardless of poor personal feelings between Menden, Wagner, and Shelton, that the two board members attempting to oust Shelton did so without any intelligent thought regarding the likely repercussions (ie. law suits) that would most certainly be filed in short order. I would much prefer my trusted elected officials to make sound and prudent decisions based on rational, and not emotion. Clearly this manure was not well thought out and will continue to have negative impacts going forward. Nice job gentlemen.

Actually the question should be asked is did he do work on his private business during work hours at work? what did he sell to securealert? sounds like something that should be looked in to as well.
