The group of veterans who have made up the core of the team in recent years could be gone.

Chip - I guess you didn't read Sids column today, where his good friend Mr Wilf stated that the Vikings arent planning on any major changes....which makes sense. Why waste time and money on improving the team when innebriated Minnesotans blindly hand over their money regardless of whether the team is successful or not?

The Metrodome lease is done so the biggest change is the Vikings will be playing in a different state next season.

I get it. Wilf doesn't want to spend the money if the State won't build him a stadium so he is in holding mode. If we won't build, he will sell and he doesn't want to sell the team after investing money on free agents and new coaches. That comes out of his pocket. I think I speak for all Vikings fans when I say I would rather have an owner who is more interested in building a winner than a shopping mall. If Wilf can't see beyond the $ and one season at a time, we won't be successful anyway. The successful franchises have committed owners who are football fans and want to own the team for the winning... not just money.

We know Bernard Berrian & Mcnabb's salaries are clearing off the books next year. If the Vikings clean house and cut, waive, trade Winfield & Hutchinson (both have been injured constantly for the better part of the last 3 seasons and are all but in the final days of their NFL careers), K. Williams (also over the hill & ineffective for a 2nd straight season), T. Johnson (Poor draft selection), Griffin (Never recovered from 2nd knee tear), Shanco (Over the hill & much better at running his mouth than patterns during a game), EJ Henderson (Came back but lost 2 steps after the femur in AZ 1 to age, the other to the broken leg) this team could free up about $30 million in cap space. Bring in maybe a Desean Jackson or Dwayne Bowe-draft Blackmon or Floyd if St Louis passes and then look at O linemen & secondary for the remainder of the draft next year the vikings will have a pass attack threat with Harvin, Rudolf, Jackson/Bowe, & a Blackmon/Floyd that would help out Gherheart until Peterson comes back-hopefully without losing that extra burst that made him special. Will the Vikings go to the playoffs? No, but with some coaching changes & a great draft in 2012 & 2013 they might compete deep into the playoffs in 2014.

Frazier should be fired just for having faith in Bernard Berrian. But Wilf won't pay 2 coaches not to coach, so Frazier will be here next year.

After watching the highlights of the Okla St/ Stanford game tonight, I am convinced Blackmon will not be available for the 3rd pick. With Luck and Blackmon going 1-2 in the draft, Vikings should trade down to accumulate draft picks. While the offensive lineman Matt Kalil will be available at #3, the Vikings need a lot more than an offensive lineman. Also, I heard on local radio today the Wilf's like Spielman and it sounds like he will still be around next year. If that is the case, I would prefer the state not build a new stadium and let the current Vikings move because Zygi is foolish to keep Spielman around. I have come to the conclusion Zygi is a terrible owner and does not know what he is doing. I compare him to the owner of the Redskins. They are both bad owners. Build a new stadium in the future when a team like Jacksonville would entertain a move. Hard to imagine in this economy FL can support 3 NFL teams. If Zygi is smart he will fire Spielman and Studwell and bring in Bill Polian who was let go today by Indianapolis.

The vikings are a lose jinxed franchise and that cannot be disputed. The fact that the entire front office will be back next year ( cluless Spielman, Frazier and Mark "The Wimp" Wilf) speaks volumes about how they will continue down the loser path and how Zygi's commitment to winning is not only a punchline but an outright lie!!! If the vikings are to even compete for a NFC North title in the next decade their 51% owner, New Jersey resident and extortionist Zygi Wilf must go!!!

Lets see who gets the ax but right now I'm really excited (too early) about the April draft. Did anybody see Blackmon light up Stanford? 186 yards and 3 touchdowns for that guy and you can just tell he's got a game for the pros. He's really big, phycial, fast, and hard to cover. I was thinking there was a huge drop off after Kalil. There isn't. Either Kalil or Blackmon would be huge upgrades for the Vikes at offensive tackle and wide receiver. I'm not saying I would rule out another player being drafted that high. I just think the Vikes are in a great position with that #3 pick in the first round.

The #3 pick is where teams will want to move up to in order to draft Robert Griffin III. There was an article on SI the other day indicating that there are NFL scouts who actually believe RG3 is a better prospect than Luck. Of course, to trade down would be handing Spielman more draft picks to screw up. Zygi would be making a great PR move with the fanbase and get a boost of stadium support if he hired Bill Pollian as GM. Unfortunately, he's not smart enough to see the big picture in that regard or any other.
