The decision-by-committee approach is not going to work when a team is as broken as this one.

The most glaring examples of why we need a gm and not a coach driving the personal are Randy Moss (Childress) and Donovan McNabb (Frazier)

Throw them all out and start over. Let the new GM hire new coaches. Frazier is in over his head.

"The problem with decision-by-committee is that it fuels the perception that mistakes escape accountability". I disagree. I think the current group is accountable, and shares the decision making. What if we hired a GM and he started making questionable decisions? Then we are right back to square one. 2011 was a rebuilding year, and the results we see now are the result, plain and simple.

This Vikings organization looks like a mess when even looked at from a distance which is where I'm standing. I would however like to know who the GM candidates would be. Anybody nervous over that? Striking out on this hire would leave the Vikings on the bottom of the NFC North for a long time just like what fans had to endure in Detroit. We would have to hope that the Wilfs have enough experience at this point to know who this GM should be. I think the Wilfs would be over their heads with this hire unless there is someone out there for the job that looks like Superman. Not a bad article Scoggins but who's your Superman?

The fact that Zygi's brother Mark "The Wimp" Wilf" continues to be employed as the team's president speaks volumes about how incompetent and clueless this 51% majority owner really is. Zygi needs to wake up and realize thst running a professional sports franchise is NOT the same or as easy as running the strip mall / real estate business he inherited fromhis family!!! Time to hire a qualified general manager Zygi, that way you will have more time to focus on and run your "Housewives of New Jersey" fantasy football league you enjoy so much!!!

The New GM should come from outside the organization. I beleive Spielman ran the Dolphins into the ground.

What a bunch of winers. "Nothing Wilf has ever done has panned out". It has only been three years since Wilf agreed to spend 25 million over two years to bring in Favre. We came within one play and/or coin flip of going to the Super Bowl and the whole town was cheering like crazy. Wilf has NEVER refused to spend money on players. Until this year the Vikes have not had a decent/promising QB that we drafted as such since Culpepper was injured. That is the biggest difference between us and the rest of our division. GB, Chicago and Detroit each start a QB that was drafted in the first round more than two years ago. Think about it...if GB, Chi or Det lost the starting QB to injury how well would they perform (oh yea, that did happen to Chicago and they lost five in a row)?? GB does not have a great defense and has had big o line issues lately but they have Rodgers to make up for it. If he went down so would the team's record. We also had unusually high losses in the defensive backfield this year but that will get fixed. We didn't have a great defensive backfield in 09 but were still only one play from the SB. Every team has weaknesses. We will get better. As for having one GM...it does not matter if you have one decision maker or three. What matters is the quality of decisions that get made.

The current murky front office hierarchy is flawed. Vikes need to restructure and find a serious, credible leader (President) at the top of the organization. Find a president who can initiate a sense of organization and overall direction in a franchise that has lacked such a vision for far too long. Today the Vikes have a President, Mark Wilf, who has no background or experience to make football decisions. Hire a new President who is responsible for hiring a general manager, a head coach and scouting and personnel people. They all work in departments toward a singular goal. Instead of letting the next Childress come along and usurp the entire organization, the Vikes should stick to this structure. If the new GM can't get the job done, replace him. If Frasier can't get the job done, replace him. If Frasier and the new GM and their staffs all fail, then it is time to fire the President and bring in a new president who can then decide to keep or replace anyone and everyone. The Vikes currently have no reporting structure with checks and balances or accountability. Change paths and find the one voice that will be heard above all others. That would be a huge improvement over the current amateurish front office fiasco.

Chip is righton in the need for a GM. The Twins have used a committee mgt and it has resulted in same old "small marketing propaganda and mgmt style" and a spiral to the bottom. Ryan leaves, becomes a "advisor", Smith takes his chair, now the switch is reversed. Kelly leaves, but is a "advisor" while his understudy, Gardy takes his place. No new blood, or Top Guy Accountablity. The Vikes have moved into the same syndrome and have regressed. I hope they do more to fix this team than just bring aboard the low budget blue collar guys that the twins are bringing aboard. Regarding Ponder; he was cast into the starting role mid season after McNabb got most of the snaps in the stike shortened summer camp. The wide reciever group he has to work with is the worst we have ever had and is void of Tall fast targets like Rice, Moss, and Carter. The offensive line has been a shammble. So we just dont know what he can do with decent support. However a Savy GM may have went a different direction after Webbs fine preformance when thrown in by necessity last yr, and said "we already have a good young Qb" we are picking Mr...... instead!
