He's the pro football equivalent of the passenger who had a ticket but didn't get on the Titanic for some reason or another. It is looking extremely grim for the Vikings and I can see why a guy who has been on a lot of good teams would decide this is the right time to walk away.

Jimmy K will be tough to replace. If you watch what happens away from the ball, you will often see him throwing the key block or running some guy over. His hands weren't too bad and he had the versatility to play FB, TE, or even the slot in some formations. Thanks for the good years and play, Jim.

I went to school with Jimmy and worked in a bar with him while there. He has always been a really nice guy and has worked for everything he got in the NFL. I congratulate him on a really nice career and wish him the best. I'm glad to see him get out while he is still intact.

He has 1 catch for 4 yards this season, per the official stats on the Vikings web site. Yes, it's 4 more yards than I have in the NFL but I'm just sayin'...

Jim Kleinsasser has been and is a class act. Now it sounds as if he is retiring with a little more class and his health intact. Good move. Thanks Jim for the 13 years you gave us. I liked watching you pancake opponents with your outstanding blocking. Whatever you were asked to do? You did it well with little complaining. Thanks again Jim K. and thank you Sid for the article.

Nice work Sid...Kleinsasser showed his class by having you announce his retirement...When you grow up in this area, you understand the hierarchy of Minnesota sports and that it begins and ends with you.
