His brilliant performance Sunday — 412 yards passing, five touchdown passes — shouted that Aaron Rodgers has competition for the award.

Not too many people probably remember this, but when San Diego cut Brees (brilliant!) his agent immediately called the Vikings to see if they were interested (Culpepper was traded to Miami). Much like today, Wilf didn't think a general manager was necessary back then either and so he handed personnel decisions to his newly-hired head coach Colonel Klink... who told Brees' agent "no thanks" because being the great talent evaluator Chilly was, he had his eye on a prospect from Div. I-AA Alabama St. in the upcoming draft. Seriously, what are the odds that gump ever gets a coaching job in the NFL again!?!

Granted Brees is having a great year, but Sid Hartman could have thrown for 300 yards against the vikings.

Stanbob is right any half way decent QB could have beat the vikes. The other thing is that both Brees and Aaron Rodgers stay in the game to pad there stats.

It's pretty ridiculous to say no one is playing at the same level as Brees when Rodgers is playing at a higher level. Things could get closer in the next two weeks, but as of right now there shouldn't be any question about the MVP, and that player is Rodgers.

"Things could get closer in the next two weeks, but as of right now there shouldn't be any question about the MVP, and that player is Rodgers." You're so right. That 17 for 35 Tebow-like performance against the 5-8 (now 6-8) Chiefs absolutely screamed MVP.
