It was a good game by the Peters-Gillies-Palmer line. Cullen too. You could tell our team was a little depleted of players tonight. Let's hope the guys heal and get back soon. Should be a tough game against the Canucks coming up. Let's go Wild!

Dont recall the writer of the post today here saying even though the Wild had injuries they would have an easy time with the Isles (BTW) not the worst team in the league check your facts. We have injuries to also, played our #3 goalie (MONTOYA),Rolston, and 2 of our top 4 D. HERE'S the ONLY FACT HERE. They played eachother twice and the best team in the NHL for now, LOST not once but TWICE to the NYI this yr by 2-1 scores and both games should have been blowouts if not 4 Backstrom. Do some research, the Isles had a bad 10 game stretch, take that away and they are a good team. Also have like 3 games in hand on most teams in the east,CHECK YOU FACTS AND THE STANDINGS. C YA next yr WILDLESS!

Isles: I watched and appreciated the days of Billy Smith, Butch Goering, Mike Bossy,Bobby Nystrom, Clark Gillies .etc. BUT those days are long gone. I was at the game tonight and the Isles fans I talked to realized they beat Houston North not the Wild. Here's some research for you, your team is pathetic.

islanders: Thank you for joining our forum and our love of hockey. You are right that the Isles have faced a lot of injuries this year too. In regard to your suggestion the writer check the standings, the reference to "worst" team in the league meant the standings BEFORE the game. You had 24 points, Carolina 25. NYI were in 15th in the East at that point. Certainly the writer did not mean "worst" as an evaluation of your team. Good game, and yes, we do look forward to seeing you next year. We certainly won't see you in the post-season. :p

This team is so frikken frustrating to watch..You can't keep losing to the lower teams of the NHL if you want to make the playoffs....But this isn't new...Hope this isn't a flashback to last year....Fast start and fast fade....

"Do some research, the Isles had a bad 10 game stretch, take that away and they are a good team" - PLEASE! Just about any team in any sport could make a similar statement! Heck, even the Detroit Red Wings had a losing streak of 6 games this season (and had a 12 game stretch where they lost 8 of 12). Yet they are still 20-10-1. Gee, take out that 6-game losing streak and they would be 20-4-1. Let's face facts, the Islanders just are not that good of a team. Despite the Wild losing to the Islanders twice, they are still 20-8-5. And yes, according to the standing, the Islanders are second to the LAST in the Eastern Conference; LAST in the Atlantic Division and 14 points behind the New York Rangers. Not to belittle the Islanders' SO win, but the Wild didn't play that great of a game; and Backstrom is one of the poorer SO goalies in the league. I cringe whenever Backstrom is in goal for a shootout.

Not sure those are the top guys I would put out during the shootout. Zids is horrible. And his defensive play is the same. Lucky to even get one point last night. We were outplayed terribly.

Get over it Islanders guy. We lost 2-1 twice to your squad not playing our best hockey. That tells you a lot! Tavares (who I interviewed when he was in the OHL) is a good young talent along with a few other guys. But, you are rebuilding. You say you had a bad 10 game stretch. The Wild's worst stretch so far is now...3 games. And, that's with SIX top forwards injured. How would you guys fare without your top six forwards, including Tavares?!! CHECK YOUR FACTS!!

We all know the Wild didnt play that great of a game, but they werent that bad, considering. It was awesome watching our future pin the Islanders in their zone for two minutes at a time! I think Gillies is going to turn out to be a real good player. Man, he is big and fast! Did you see him lead the forecheck, then hustle back and be the first one to backcheck! Palmer looked good too. We are going to have a tough team, for years to come. Its about time! GO WILD!
