Regardless of what move the Twins do, there seems to be no end to the unhappy reactions from their fan base.

If the Twins sell low on Span and/or Liriano this offseason, you can add me to that LVS.

Pat, you are ignoring the real issue, and that is that Twins fans feel lied to and taken advantage of, whereas the rest of the local sports scene just continues to kick us in the teeth. The wins the Twins have come by are glorified through the inbalanced schedule they benefit from, and since the last playoff loss the fans have decided that winning the AL Central is on par with the Gopher men's non-conference schedule. We were told (fans, taxpayers) that the new stadium would be the difference maker. Instead, we get another playoff sweep, then a 63 win season, followed by a retooling that includes a payroll reduction. I agree that money spent needs to be wisely done, but the perception is that the Pohlads are making bank and covering their investment, rather than putting it back into the team, where they said it was going. Add that to the kid glove treatment of the D&L boys and the fact that the gamers on this team (Cuddyer, Nathan, and Hunter before that) have bailed when they easily could have come back, and it's obvious the Twins have totally sat back and watched while their franchise fell apart. Firing Smith was the right move, time will tell if they have the guts to continue to make the right moves.

Nice comment fjbarrows, The Pohlads will stay put as long as Target field is packed with people. As long as The M and M boys make up 40 percent of the payroll, this team is doomed.

Pat I remember an article you wrote before the season saying the Twins were too old. You were proven correct. Now which way do you want it. Are the Twins doing it right or wrong? You can't have it both ways.

Aside from being factually incorrect, great article Reusse! Most baseball fans realize Willingham and Cuddyer are the exact same player, and welcomed this signing in hopes that the FO would in turn spend the money they saved from letting Cuddy go, on their biggest need: pitching. We're still waiting on that upgrade to the starting staff/bullpen...

Its hard to not be dissatsified with a team that keeps trading down. Plus, the Twins play over half the year, so we invest a lot of time watching them.

Pat, I feel sport writers and radio hosts think that the people who constantly post negative comments on these boards and on Twitter are the real hardcore fans. They are not. They are the vocal minority who believe the only good comment is a negative one. For most of these adolescents, it's not cool to be positive or optimistic. Please stop treating these children as real fans. Real fans are at the ballpark, watching on TV (see the Twins ratings), and looking forward to 2012.

Personally I am glad that Cuddyer is gone, and that they have brought in Josh Willingham. Cuddyer needed to go, and willingham provides a right handed bat in the line up. Now if only we could address the pitching.

"These numbers make it rather interesting that a larger percentage of the sporting public seems to be angry with the Twins than any of the other five franchises/programs that matter the most to Minnesotans." Patrick, you know very well that the Vikings, Wolves, Wild, and Gophers don't get the luxury of playing Kansas City 19 times every year.
