Indoor tanning operators say they're getting burned by tax

Many closed. Not surprised. That was the whole objective of the tax. Similar to the existing cigarette taxes, gasoline taxes and proposed candy/soda taxes. It's made too expensive so people stop using them.

It could also be that there have been numerous reports recently, underlining the serious cancer risk of using tanning beds. It could also be that people have less discretionary spending, and activities like fake tanning would be the first thing cut from one's budget.
