I'm employed, college educated and I love hockey but it's just too darn expensive to bring a family to these games, there are no such thing as "cheap" seats in the Excel.

@holdsteady- Been there and am on the other side of that tunnel now. But, there are lots like you! A mom, dad and 2.4 children at what? A minimum of $60.00 for a seat? $20 to park and another $80 in weenies and drinks. Plus if your kids play hockey ... well then there's always the ice bills, the tournaments etc ... Indeed Wild have improved their product and it's fun to watch the games they are in rather than going just to see the other club play. It's not like being at the X but NHL Center Ice package on cable would give all the hockey you could ever digest ... and for less than the cost of one night at the X for the family for the whole season. Good high school matches and DIII college games are pretty good too.

I agree the cost being high is a factor, we try to get to 1 or 2 games a year and make an event out of it. I think I saw 75 games last season, mostly TV and we have weekend hockey night parties whenever we can. We should be happy that we now have an owner that is making good decisions and realizing a good on ice product is what people want.

The upper level ends are $22, so there are cheap seats, just not a lot of them. Get your tickets when they first go on sale. You can also check the ticket broker websites day of game and find deals. I don't go to the number of games I used to but still love going and happily picked up a 5 game pack for my wife and I this year. This team is definitely improved and way fun to watch. Go Wild!

geckojay already pointed out that the cheapest seat is far less than $60. There are also $11 seats, though very few. $20 for parking? You're not looking hard enough - I pay $5 at my regular ramp. And, no reason to have to spend $80 on food, etc. Eat before you come. Sure, I understand it's not a cheap night out, but let's not exaggerate.

Agree with hockeydad3. Parking is only $20 if you refuse to walk more than 1-2 blocks. I also only pay $5 where I park, and I never buy tickets that cost more than $40 a piece. Still costs a fair amount, but not that bad really for a night out in St. Paul.

As a STH its great to see the improved team and the fact that the Wild recognize they need to improve in a lot of areas. Its an 8 hour round trip for us to see a game but we make it to about 2 dozen a year. However, it became difficult to sell our unused tickets last year, even at a discount. That never used to be the case and if that trend continues we will be opting for NHL Center Ice and buying tickets to just a few games.
