Its seems diversity means left and only left.

Isn't Hamline a Private University? Don't Conservatives believe that Private entities should be free to determine who works there based on their own criteria? I sure hope that conservatives don't want their view of Political Correctness to drive Hamline's hiring processes.

does this surprise anybody? When you have facist controlling the educational system, they will not allow any debates whatsoever. Every time Conservatism is debated on college campus, the facist lose support......much like the nazi's did. The left will not allow the 'students' be exposed to other ideas and to think for themselves.....why do you think we have a whole generation that believes its entitled to everything, and provides nothing...

Very good editorial - I totally agree. Hamline should welcome an Emmer type - if he's so wrong it should be easy to have logic based discussions and refute him. What better for the Hamline students than to hear multiple points of view and make up their own minds? Are liberals afraid to discuss things logically?

This is the way it used to be in communist Russia....you were only permitted to have a university education if you were a member of the Soviet Party

I don't view this as the result of liberal or conservative political views or political correctness. I view this as a non- news story. People have job offers retracted every day. (Especially in the economy of the past 4 years). Or it is strongly suggested to people they'll be hired and it just doesn't pan out. Ask people who have been looking for work for an extended period. They'll tell you how close they were to being hired only to be rebuffed at the 11th hour. Further there are people let go from jobs every day under 'at will' circumstances. So what's the big deal? One guy- one job. How about regular people who've been looking for months? Of course ... people who pull themselves up by their bootstraps ... oh- never mind.

While I strongly disagree with the Tribune's strident views on taxes, social issues, etc., I give the Editorial Board great credit and kudos for standing up to this line of Hamline crapola. Thanks.

As a Hamline grad, I am glad they didn't hire him. Diversity requires professors that understand that all students are welcome, including gay students and other minorities. It is clear from Emmer's social viewsl that Emmer isn't interested in caring about all his students, so he would have no place at Hamline. We need to care about the students and not about giving a bigot a job.

Hamline is run by control freaks :) Merry Christmas everyone!
