Chris, it's nice to see a mention of Mastodon, but two things: First, 'The Hunter', while an entertaining and rewarding disc, ranks only above 'Blood Mountain' in their discography. 'Crack The Skye' and 'Remission' boast far more depth. Secondly, try to avoid sweeping statements about genres that you don't cover on a regular basis. Calling this "the best metal of 2010" is extremely dismissive, as you likely haven't heard the latest from Blut Aus Nord, 40 Watt Sun, Graveyard, Ulcerate, Primordial, et al. Furthermore, the best "prog-thrash" of 2010 came courtesy of Vektor's 'Outer Isolation.'

Jon, glad you gave a shout out to Hayes Carll, look for another album by him in 2012. Perhaps that one will be #1.....
