As much as I'd love to see Chauncey Billups back in a Wolves uniform, it is clear that this is not the kind of situation he is looking for. I must say that J. J. Barea sounds intriguing. Are we looking at any actual shooting guards? (No, Bonzi Wells doesn't count. Unless Adelman knows something we don't. Which is certainly possible.) Haven't been this excited about a season in quite some time. Go Wolves!

If we get Barea can we get rid of Luke Ridnour? He's a sad excuse for a point guard. I think if we had had a decent point guard we could have won 10 more games last year. That being said, I'm happy we were able to draft Derrick Williams. From everything I see & hear, sounds like he has the potential to be a great player.

jpweisser, I agree with you. Ridnour has very little to offer. He can't penetrate and create shots, which is among the top three skills a point guard must have. If the Wolves can sign Berea, I would cut Ridnour and pick up another veteran PG as insurance or promote someone from the D league. Or maybe the young man who is practicing but hasn't signed yet (sorry, I forgot his name) could fill the bill.

JJ Barea would be a nice signing if he doesn't cost too much. The Wolves need a playmaking guard or someone who can play and handle the ball. The only people who can really handle the rock are Rubio and Ridnour. JJ isn't really a point guard even though he's under 6 feet. He's more of a undersized 2 guard who can dribble. He can play the point though if Rubio or Ridnour get hurt. Unless, the Wolves sign Jamal Crawford or make a trade, I don't see who else would fits the role. It looks like the Knicks are trying to get JJ and Jamal. The Wolves need a playmaking guard and a veteran player, if it isn't Jamal or JJ it has to be someone. I watched almost all of Dallas' playoffs games last year and adding JJ wouldn't be a bad thing that's for sure. He would help the Wolves improve in the 4th quarter this year. They were awful in the 4th last year. I also think depending on Martell coming back is a mistake. He will be hurt again just when you start counting on him. If he starts playing good, trade him!

justin1978, you're right about Berrea being able to play the 1 and 2 (though he played the 2 with Dallas) which would make him incredibly valuable. I can envision him breaking down the defense and dishing to just about any of our bigs for an easy basket. I don't think that getting a taller player is in and of itself a better thing to do. IMO it's about who can complement the players we do have. Plus, maybe Johnson will learn how to play the 2 by having a mentor like Berea. If so, that's quite a contrast for defenses to face: Johnson and Berea.
