the city needs that money to pay out the million dollar settlements brought on by the police dept, the fire chief is in a real tough spot dealing with this disfunctional group of so called ward leaders
If you look at the city's track record over the past ten years, very few department heads have survived the re-appointment process -- whether they were Sayles Belton's holdovers or Rybak's appointments. The taxpayers picked up the tab for severance payouts.
Further, in questioning the Chief's judgement, I am troubled by the Bonnie Bleskachek promotion. Perhaps the Chief should have huddled with an outside consultant before making this decision. The taxpayers could again be left holding the bag.
