Among the veterans, only Antoine Winfield should remain, and he shouldn't be a first-stringer.

Start by getting rid of the Cover 2. Girlie defense for players afraid of the responsibilities of covering man to man. Players have to be exceptionally smart to play that defense well. Most players today don't seem to be that smart.

Cook back next year?? Really?? Unless the supposed victim totally recants her story, he is in jail for a 2-year minumum OR suspended by Goodell for a year/ or BOTH? That's what's most frustrating about the bonehead Vikings NOT suspending him without pay for 4 weeks- which the players association allows? Cook WILL NOT be a starting corner next year.

The Vikes are YEARS from competing in the NFC North. If Kalil doesn't come out, draft Claiborne and start the rebuild!

The Vikes should spend every draft choice in rounds 1 thru 5 on two positions. OL and DB. Take the best player available at those spots.

The last great secondary was when Joey Browner and Carl Lee were starting together in the late 1989s - early 1990s.

Check out the sack totals of starting front four for 1989: Chris Doleman 21, Keith Millard 18, Al Noga 12, Henry Thomas 9. Browner and Lee were great in their own right, but that front four helped them do their jobs even better.

Totally agree with this article. Free agents Cortland Finnegan(28), Laron Landry(27), Tracy Porter(26) are all young enough to sign to five year deals. Two of these three along with a high draft pick at corner should more than solidify our defensive backfield. Draft Kalil and Marvin McNutt to bolster our other weak positions and we have a good start at turning this train wreck of a team around.

VIKINGS TERTIARY PHILOSOPHY (cats ain't worthy of being called a secondary) ................................................................. BREAK AND STAY BROKEN

The Vikings rarely seem to have a competent secondary. Why is that?
