First it was the Hennepin County commissioners, then the Ramsey County commissioners, now the Minneapolis Mayor. The same attitude every time. The voters pass statutes and rules on the raising and use of funds and elected officials claim that they don't apply or they look for ways to circumvent them and hope that the voters forget by the next election. No wonder the public is cynical and distrustful and has such a low regard for the people they put into office. But at least some members of the City Council appear to believe the charter amendment should be followed so maybe there's some hope.

"A near-majority of council members said Thursday that they were opposed to the mayor's plan" Isn't "a near-majority" another way of saying "a minority"?

Any reason the Wilfs expect the people to pay the largest sports stadium subsidy in history? I think our numbers are still way too far apart. The Vikings, the NFL, and the Wilfs need to up the ante now that it's all but clear that there are 4 other teams the NFL would rather move to L.A. than our team.

After hearing many Council Member Lisa Goodman's views in the past. This video and hearing her speak is now proof of how out of the loop she has become, I will now spend all of my $$ outside of chunk of city she speaks for. She has been anti density and anti growth. When developers want to build large towers everyone of them have been shot down. Talk about not spreading around the tax burden. You can not be anti suburb and anti density. That is who Council Member Lisa Goodman is, Wants the small town lifestyle and will try very hard to push out everybody who wants to change it. What a sick person she is. Yes to Vikings in MPLS!! BOOO to Council Member Lisa Goodman's short sightedness on how rare having an NFL team is to our city. Only 31 other cities have that!

Time and time again council members disagree with one another and or the mayor....but conservatives act like the city is run by some democratic machine...when in fact it is run by individuals with their own minds

Rossberg is 100% right. Why do our elected officials feel that they can go around the Charter Amendment? It is a legal provision that should never be bypassed. Period. They slipped by it once. We better not let it happen again. Why arn't our elected officials listening? Oh yah, they know so much more than - We The People.

"Rybak's stadium plan draws City Council opposition." And well it should! Bypassing the Minneapolis Charter because it doesn't fit the agenda of the current mayor is exactly why a referendum was put in said Charter. As a safeguard to the taxpayers of the city. The city council is right to question and oppose ignoring the Mlps. Charter.
