Sure, every team deals with them, but the local squads lost their best players for significant periods.

Yeah right...EXCUSES. A perfectly healthy Twins and Vikings would still finish in last place.

This might be the earliest Sid has ever set up a loss. Jones, with three years of high school left, may not play for Tubby. Nothing like preparing everyone for the bad news of 2014. Sid is one of a kind.

Whenever Sid's predictions go horribly wrong (as they ALWAYS do year after year after year after year) he plays the 'injury' card in a lame attempt to try and save face. Sorry Sid, but all us homers know that the Twins and especially the viking's seasons were long over before they were bitten by the injury bug!!! Nice try though.

Well, Sid at least has finally acknowledged that other teams are impacted by injuries (in the title no less!) Nonetheless, he still doesn't get it. The Packers had 17 players on IR and still won the Super Bowl because their organization is smart enough to draft quality depth. That's why Sid teams are allowed to have more players on their roster than just the starters... injuries happen and you have to be prepared for them. As for Maurer, his "issues" were of his own making, so quit treating him as though he's a victim.

Just more excuses, or should I say, the same OLD excuses. If injuries were the cause, then the Wild wouldn't be doing as well as they are. For tonight's game it may easier to say who IS playing. The Wild have a rookie in goal, and is playing a shutout through two periods. As for the Vikings and the Twins the only excuses are that they may have poor players, or a bad front office, or they won't put out the money needed to be competitive. So let's stop with the phony baloney excuses and start calling like it is. The Vikings and Twins are just plain lousy teams this year.

Sid says when the team's best players are hurt, this impacts the team's record. Tomorrow's column talks about when it rains and the temperature is below freezing, it turns to snow.

Don't worry Sid, the vikings have not yet been officially eliminated from the playoffs. Before Sid makes the prediction I would like to say that if the viking's run the table and go 6-10 they can still make it as an 8th seed Wild Card playoff team in the NFC. They will peak at the right moment and given their 4 game winning streak they will be entering the playoffs with tons of momentum, they will then proceed to win EVERY playoff game on the road and face the packers in Green Bay, Now I know Sid has used this one before but the vikings will be able to beat the packers because you know how difficult it is to beat a team three times in a row during a single season coupled with the homer belief that the playoffs are the start of a 'new' season and that once in the playoffs 'anything" can happen. What do you fellow purple homers think??? Do the vikings still have a shot at winning their first ever Super Bowl this year??? Sid and myself are certainly convinced and if it does not work out this year we can always blame it on injuries.

Why in the world does Sid feel he needs to explain these horrendously bad seasons?! No doubt injuries played some role....but they do for almost any team in any city. The great teams rise above them and win anyway. The Twins failed because it's stars infected the clubhouse with a lazy and apathetic attitude. The Vikings are failing because the window has closed on this current group, and there's no talent or depth to plug the holes. It simply is a poorly constructed team with a few stars and no depth where it counts.

Sniff Sniff....the WILD seemed to have found a way to win without their "star" players. TIme to dump the current Viking drafters

nowilffareDec. 9, 11 7:58 AM

QUIT MAKING EXCUSES FOR WHY OUR TEAMS ARE LOSING!!!!!!!! As if the Vikings are the only team in the league to have players get hurt! The Patriots won 11 games the year Tom Brady was lost for the season in the first game so don't carry on about the Vikings missing a few key players. I don't even know why I read Sid anymore... Souhan is the only writer at this paper with any credibility!
