Interesting that our governor pushes this anti-bullying legislation, when he has proven to be a bully himself....

Just the fact that he is pushing our child daycare providers into the unsavory union world is being a bully in itself.

Maybe we should be writing this legislation to include our bullying governor!!!!

Great- let me guess, we'll need a special 'bully support' person (or 3) at each school now with a specialist degree getting paid as much as the principal. More positions we can't afford and don't need. At least this one has to do with kids, unlike half of them at the district office level. Dayton- are you going to fund this or not? Bullying is NOT any different than it was when any of us grew up. The speed at which the information travels is different however. Unfortunately some kids always have and always will be mean to one another on occasion.

I have to say, I'm a bit tired of hearing about this. Bullying has been going on since time began. Anyone watch Little House on the Prairie and how Laura was bullied by Nelly?? How is this going to be defined? And how is it going to affect education? How much is it going to cost taxpayers to incorporate new programs to meet some of these mandates that could be taken care of if perhaps teachers were allowed to discipline students that are troublemakers.

Dayton doesn't seem to have a clue as to what his responsibilities are as Governor. 'Bullying' isn't one of them. Seems like the liberals are putting a 'full court press' on now to try to push thru more unnecessary laws with more red tape and expense to the taxpayers. And so what if our current law is 37 words long? It mandates schools to have policies against all types of bullying. What more could be needed? Any Dayton order should be challenged legally as unconstitutional, and would be likely thrown out.

Good thing the governor is going to issue a decree. This makes as much sense as Republicans making sure we continue In God We Trust...

"to be a bully himself.... Just the fact that he is pushing our child daycare providers into the unsavory union world is being a bully in itself.".....Huh? What? Dayton a "bully"? YGBK. For "pushing our child daycare providers into the unsavory union world.." OMG. Actually he has done no such pushing, he is simply allowing them to vote on the issue, if that's pushing the Star should be embarrassed for pushing you into making this inane comment. And "unsavory", care to explain that nonsense?

"Dayton doesn't seem to have a clue as to what his responsibilities are as Governor. 'Bullying' isn't one of them.".....First, it sounds as thought the right actually supports bullying, they claim it is time honored and must be character strengthening and, oh ho hee hee, it's just harmless pranksterism. I guess it's time to start bullying the right wingers: hey you panty waisted knuckle draggers, maybe you should learn what the governor can do before you claim he can't, you can't stop him, you're too chicken. Hmmmph!

They are only concerned with passing on the agenda of one certain group. This is all about GLBT interests. Just wait for the "bullying" curriculum to come next. I wonder what group that curriculum will focus on.

He won't say it, but this is all about the Anoka/Hennepin district. If they weren't so willfully inept, we wouldn't be where we are today.

The problem I have with bullying is that some of it amounts to felony assault. I wouldn't put up with that at work and a kid doesn't need to put up with it at school where they are trying to learn. There isn't a class called "Getting beat-up 101" so there should be a way for educators to deal with this and they should be required to stop it. The other problem is that a child is suffering because of a complete failure on the part of another parent who has not taught their child to behave in a respectable manner. This isn't the same as brothers and sisters fighting. This is a kid leaving the house and assaulting the kid of another parent. If you think that it's ok for that to happen and we shouldn't worry about it then you should equally dismiss the other parents disciplining the bully even though it's not their kid. I'm certainly wouldn't let some kid beat-up my kid and just forget about it. When the kid sees the consequences he will quit being a bully. In my mind bullies come from problem parents. Problem kids don't come from good parents. The good kids shouldn't have to suffer because of other parents that are bad.
