Why do we continue to help sustain people in an area that doesn't sustain itself. Move the people, not the food.

It's about time that a company gets over greed, good job Cargill! Too bad there is too many people on the homefront that need help also.

jorgensonjoe - who is "we" in your statement. Cargill gave this aid and I doubt you had anything to do with it.

This is a nice gesture as long as EVERYBODY in America is eating enough. Lets take care of our home first.

Thank you Cargill. I gave on MN Give day. I hope if you haven't been a part of the "we" that helps someone, it's not to late, pick a charity you know will assist and help if you are lucky enough to be able to. Giving is glorious and helping abroad reminds us to help our neighbors. I like local help, but I support this too, as would most people in need. It all reminds us we need each other and can try to help, share and receive when in need. Thanks from the heart.

This article (or any other I find) doesn't identify the source of this rice. Given Cargill's checkered history, I suspect this might be: http://af.reuters.com/article/commoditiesNews/idAFL3E7MG21W20111116

Well, at least now the starvation will be staved-off long enough for we westerners to have a very Merry Christmas without having to look at starvation scenes on TV while we're opening all our presents. Nice feel-good gesture for this time of year though, eh? "Good Will Toward Men" and all that sappy-happy! Wonder how much will be siphoned-off to the terrorists and the war lords?
