A commitment to the system, a timely goal by Cal Clutterbuck and Niklas Backstrom's sharp effort combined for a victory.

I hope that there aren't too many collisions as the fair weather fans turn around and attempt to get back on the bandwagon, as there sure were a bunch of them bailing after the recent "I told you so" two game losing skid.

"They became the last NHL team this season to lose a one-goal decision in regulation, falling to 6-1-2 in those situations" -- Russo, Koivu scored an empty netter so this was not a one goal game.

Nice shorty by CC. Thank goodness Koivu wasnt expecting a pass back from CC even though he was wide open. Thanks wilcum, i wouldnt have known Mikko scored by reading a Russo article.

@wilcwm that was the AP that wrote that bit, not Russo. Generally the Strib puts out an AP article first, which then gets replaced by Russo's article after he writes it.

It was great to see a game on Versus, so that I could get a read on what the national media see with the Wild. What I heard is that they feel the Wild is the real deal, not a fluke. Lundin performed as well as advertised, Zanon played solidly, Backstrom had a great comeback. The Clutterbuck goal was terrific, and shows his improving scoring ability. This win was actually the lead story on the NHL network this morning, (amazing what happens when you play a team from the east!). And by the way, Nystrom got his 8th goal last night, more than anyone on the Wild. Thought the Nystrom haters would like to hear that.

ARRey sez: Uffda, #7 also has 8 goals for MN Wild.

bmgarvertNov. 29, 11 9:26 AM

Not to mention he got #8 a week or so ago.

I really don't like the aggressive forecheck system utilized by the Wild however, the execution of that system last night was tremendous. I do think the style of play allows the Wild to remain competitive with these offensively loaded teams such as Tampa Bay.

Now hopefully all the Backstrom haters will calm down for a few games anyway. He was the reason we managed two points from that game.

Mike, why do you always refer to the Wild using "it" instead of "they" which would be customary for other teams like the Twins, Vikings, Gophers, Wolves, etc. I understand the name "Wild" is singular, but Miami sportswriters don't refer to LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and company as "it."
