The article mentions effects of the cutbacks in D.C., Nebraska, Ohio, etc. Why is there no mention of what is happening with the organization in Minnesota? One phone call could have obtained the information.

Elizabeth Dole's salary as head of the Red Cross was $200,000. But why look for the facts when anything can be posted and in too many cases believed?

Elizabeth Dole's salary as head of the Red Cross was $200,000 and, in recognition of all those who volunteer for the Red Cross, she did not accept any pay in her first year as their president. But hey holstj, why spend any time looking for facts that are readily available when you can just toss out anything you want and all too many people will believe it -- after all, they saw it on the internet.

Based on personal experience, I receive countless telephone calls from American Red Cross asking for blood donations. The last time I scheduled at my local Red Cross Blood Bank there was a 1 and a half hour wait past my scheduled appointment time. I left before being seen. These cutbacks are hurting everyone. This was not the first time I waited past my scheduled appointment time, it was however the first time I saw 3 other people come in with the same appointment time as my own. The combination of being short staffed and a poorly managed facility equals a decrease of individuals willing to donate their time and their blood. I will donate the next time the Red Cross comes to my church or my place of employement.
