RIP Lois and Jeno. You are missed. God's Peace to your families.
RIP Jeno...You were a great business man!
God's rest to you both.
I remember how badly he was treated by the Minnesota press and the unions in the 1980s. They said everything was his fault, and their behavior was shameful.
I never got to meet the man but I know his products and have heard his legend. The current generation will never spawn stories like this. Nobody in this generation will ever get to "work from the bottom up" like Jeno Paulucci did.
A nice story that captured the essence of a great man. I received one of Jeno's famous letters of complaint and outrage back in 1977. Unfortunately I didn't save it. He was complaining about the lack of success of a poorly conceived project of his under my groups management!
I worked for Jeno several times throughout the years..and always felt that I really should've paid him for the privilege..he was the most influential man in my entire life. Lois was his equal. God Bless you both.
I heard Jeno speak about 30 years ago. I don't remember much of what he said but I sure do remember how he said it. It was a motivational speech, and I've never before or since seen anyone as enthusiastic and animated as Jeno was. He'd bob and wave his hands, once or twice actually appearing to leave the floor when he made a point he felt particularly strongly about.
Thank you to Lois and Jeno for your abundant generosity. RIP. It's fitting that you will be eulogized together.
Jeno apparently had offices mid career on the second floor of a Duluth building. Someone came in with a new package for one of his products and he said "lets test it". So they went to the top of the stairs and he kicked it off the top landing and let if bounce down the steps. If it did not break open, it passed his testing and was judged OK. His word on such things was the final word.
