Randmeister - thanks for writing an article after my earlier post today, I'm kinda flattered I can be the idea guy for your story lines. Your welcome. That being said, it is a glorious thing to see our NHL team as #1 in the league, I still miss the NorthStars (norm green will be cast out of heaven to the lake of fire). It is a double moment of hockey happiness to see the Minnesota Gophers as the top team in US college hockey and last but not least the triple momentum hockey happiness, Mnnesota has the best high school hockey in the country. Top to bottom, this is the State of Hockey. I'm just lovin it!!!

Yes---thank heavens for our hockey teams. With the sorry state of football in Minnesota, at least we can be proud of our hockey teams. After a few uncharacteristically down years, it's especially heartening to see the Gophers back on top (where they belong).

Agree with lonewolf11 - Gopher Women are #2 in the country at the moment, and deserved at least a mention...

Interesting in how it is all in one's perspective. If you are a fan of Minnesota football teams you feel morose, made worse when you see your biggest rivals in Wisconsin have great success. With hockey, however, the skate is on the other foot. While I have seen a million Wisconsin football trollers submit trash on the Trib blogs, I have yet to see one take on hockey. As far as I'm concerned, no need to wring your hands about a lack of great teams in Minnesota in view of the start of the local hockey teams.

It sometimes seems like the Gophers football and hockey teams and their pro team counterparts share a weird parallel universe. They seem to go through the same cycles of success and frustration...

I agree with lonewolf. There were two hat tricks by Kessel this weekend. Women Gophers deserve coverage too!

When will the T.C. media get it that the whole state IS NOT rooting for hockey Gophers? There are at least as many ANTI-Gopher hockey fans as there are fans. They never consider how many fans and alums of UMD,SCSU,MSU,BSU,and Sioux are in the state in addition to MN kids playing for those other Non- "Minnesota" teams. Both papers, and all T.C. TV are guilty. More equal coverage please. Go Wild!

centralscrut, last time i checked, it was the MINNEAPOLIS Star Tribune. Why wouldn't a Twin Cities-based newspaper focus on a TWIN CITIES-based team. UMD, SCSU, MSU, BSU and the Sioux all have their own newspapers that focus on them. Try reading the SC Times, Grand Forks Herald, Duluth Tribune, Bemidji Pioneer...no one is forcing you to read the Star Trib...
