St. John's coach John Gagliardi -- college football's winningest coach with 484 victories -- has decided to return for his 60th season directing the Johnnies.

If he really cared about that program he'd retire instead of padding his win stats by 4 or 5 more games next year. All the guy does is sit in the coaches box watching the game from a birds eye view for the whole second half of games. Doesn't say a word up there!

50 years since I played against St Johns. They were a dirty team, but they won lots of games. He wants to coach let him. Good luck to him.

Hey schwar02, as a kid I attended Johnnie games for 16 years straight and just happened to be at a game a few weeks ago. Gagliardi never sat in the coach's box. He was/is down on the field the whole way thru. Go Johnnies!

Gagliardi is intent on having his son succeed him, but there is a large faction of people at St. John's that are not in favor of this. The best possible successor for that job is Mike Grant.

Meanwhile other teams like Bethel, St. Thomas and others are the new top teams in the MIAC powers to beat..with others liker St. O winning again...So, it's a good league, and the right balance...
