Concert review: Up late with Guns N' Roses

Axl Rose had his voice, and his remade band had the old-school muster in a show that ended at 2 a.m.

It could have been a 2 hour set...lots of breaks by Axel and lots of solos...but they covered all the hits and Axel put on a good show...worth the price of admission...

Guessing the ever-aging Strib reviewer, Jon Bream, had to get home as no doubt this concert lasted waaaaaaay past his normal bedtime and no doubt was too loud for his senior ears. Glad to see a fresh perspective and an actual positive review for a change. Stay home Jon.

Amazing Concert, Amazing talent from the band, and amazing, amazing perfection from Axl! Couldnt ask for anything more. Well worth the 2plus hour drive home and the only 2.5 hours of sleep before work as I now am listening again to Chinese Democracy at work. I will add that Im not sure what was getting some of the fans wound up toward Richard, DJ, and Bumblefoot, but if it was becuz it wasnt Slash, Gilby, and Duff, (whom deserve much repsect to what they contributed back in the day) but Out with the old and in with the new. Progression and perfection. Hope to see Gn'R out with some moe new material and another tour in the next year or two. Thanks Gn'R!

Star Trib and Pioneer Press reviews say that the show was excessive and bloated. It's true, but that's what GNR has ALWAYS done since they got huge, so I'm not sure why it should be mentioned in a review as if it were a surprise. For the Illusion tour they had an unbelievably massive stage along with a full horn section and backup singers. And they've always done the random solos (drums solos, & Slash always did a long Godfather solo). At least the Star Trib review mentions that Axl's voice was spot-on. Pioneer Press review was mostly negative.

Didn't know DJ Ashba signed on with GNR - heck of a guitarist - loved his stuff with Sixx AM

I've been to alot of concerts over the past 35 years and this one clearly ranks in my top 5 all time. My wife and I knew we were in for a late night. We didn't get up until noon on Sunday in anticipation. Glad we did, being there right to the end was an incredible feeling. We watched a few people trickle out before it ended and they really missed out. It was an awesome show from start right to the finish. Axl's voice and the awesome wall of sound created by the band will be ringing around in my head for days.

Awesome show! I heard nothing but negitive stuff coming into the show and I was happy that they tore up the stage. Axl's voice better then ever and they played alot of the older stuff. Besides getting home at 4:00am and waking up for work at 6:00am we had a badass time. Can't wait for them to come back to town...We will be there forsure.

Caught the concert last month in Mexico City, Flew to Minnesota yesterday to surprise my son with tickets. Both shows were excelent. Mexico was a little longer and a bigger venue.Last night or I should say this mornings concert was just as great. Wish I knew they were jamming tonight I would stayed and missed work tonight.More off Chinese Democracy last night was great. Well worth the trip!

No mention of how Tommy fit in with the rest of the band? Does he look out of place?
