Even though recovery schools do countless people good, literally save life after life... I'm sure that if the GOP unites, puts all of their brains together, they can come up with some way to eliminate *all* funding for *all* schools, get these kids back on the streets supporting local businesses and using the saved money to cut taxes for the ultra-rich 1%.

Please do not defund these schools. They literally save lives. Otherwise, we can pay much more in the long run to fund the county attorney, public defender, jails, prisons, and state run psychiatric facilities. Oh yes, and Potters field.

If you want to know why Sobriety High struggles while other local sober schools succeed, lokk no further than their board of directors.

As a substance abuse counselor I can testify that these types of schools are good for nothing other than gaining easy access to more drugs or finding other individuals to party with. If a young person is serious about staying clean they will avoid these schools.

"get these kids back on the streets supporting local businesses" Funniest thing I have read in years. You might find most of these kids looking for dope down at the OWS camp.

orvesta: Two schools closed when the DFL had the house and senate. Put the blame where it belongs if you are mature enough.

Maybe they can all graduate, go to Sober College, graduate and get a job at Sober Corp and never have to deal with the realities of life in the real world.

I think the name "Sober High School" may have played a part in it's downsizing."I see here that you graduated with honors from...Sober High?"

WOW, really? "Sobriety High" Nothing like putting the words "Sobriety" and "High" in the name of a school. By the way, arn't all schools sober? I do know one thing, most schools are probably more sober than this one. Close it now!

I know 2 students that went there and they continue to struggle almost 3 years later. The only thing they learned was how to meet other people that wanted to party! Total waste of time! Stop babying kids and start holding them responsible for their future! This "poor me" society is ruining kids.
