The picture clears for Gray

The Gophers QB's three touchdown passes last weekend said a lot about how far he has come.

I agree Gray look 100% better, but that wasn't difficult to do. Everyone would have to say he played very well, but. Shortell would have also improved with more experience and Gray would have given him great receiving help along with wildcat options. Winning 3 or 4 games this year doesn't matter, starting next year does and as OF coach stated the accuracy isn't always there.

The past two games are a glimpse of the future of Gopher football. I look forward to it! I look for the Gophs to compete into the 4th quarter again tomorrow. Good luck GOPHERS! Also, with the ugliness eminating from Happy Valley, PA this week ... a huge thank to the U of M Administration and Board of Regents for keeping a tight leash on Gopher sports. Often criticized for 'making it difficult' for the sports teams to compete ... they never forgot they are a school running sports programs ... not the other way around.

I admit that I may have been wrong in my opinion of Gray, but I think the Gophers are now in a position where they MUST redshirt Shortell next season.

Now, it will be interesting if Kill and Co. can put together enough of the younger players, recruits and junior college transfers next year to help Gray thrive! "Kill 'em all"

Gray played great against the #2 defense in the country, and will need more the same to hang with Wisconsin tomorrow. Gophs are playing well lately, and need to finish strong as this attracts better recruits, which leads to a better year next year, and even better recruits the next year, and so on. It's a cycle to get there but thankfully the Killer has done it before and knows what it takes to get there. Go Gophers this weekend. Take back the Axe and bring it home where it belongs!

STILL MISSING WIDE OPEN RECIEVERS...sorry, but Gray had people wide open everywhere last Saturday and missed, horribly, in the late 3rd and all of the 4th quarter. TE's underthrown, the best WR in the Big Ten overthrown or uncatchable balls. Sure, the D has to put more men to stop the run but we have a very good RB who could be more of a threat with a pocket QB under center and Gray (who's ten times better at reciever) and McKnight on the wings. Just stupid and stubborn. Build for the future!

Gray is easily their best playmaker, and should be playing QB. He'll be even better next year as he becomes more comfortable in the offense. No need to redshirt Shortell, he can then start his final two seasons after Gray. That allows the Gophers to redshirt Phillip Nelson next year who will be better than both of these guys in the future.

Maybe Gray, after four years here, can play a fifth year at another college. Like Wisconsin's Wilson.

minneg56, wha? The only role the regents and administration have played in gopher athletics in the past 20 years has been to deny any responsibility by proclaiming, "we're a research and education institution".
