The Bachelor Farmer's locavore approach to Scandinavian cuisine is approachable, semi-affordable and lots of fun. Star Tribune food critic Rick Nelson gives it a four-star review.

The Dayton-friendly Trib is a little too friendly to this restaurant. The Bachelor Farmer is a good restaurant but fell flat in a few areas. i.e. Chicken we were served was dark meat and was undercooked; 2 biggest chicken no-no's. I'm glad we have another good option but 2.5-3 stars is much more accurate. BF couldn't hold a flame to 112, LaGrassa, Belle Vie etc.

I agree that someone went a little overboard calling this restaurant of the year. It smells like a barn, they can't seem to make a vodka martini in fewer than 3 tries, and the service was not great- 3 hours for dinner when 2 of those hours are spent without food or drink refills is not acceptable. Food was okay, but not nearly as good as expected or as good as the price would imply.
