Maybe while they're at it, they can restructure their broadcasting agreements and win some fans back with some TV games available to all fans again (not just those with cable/satellite). There have been a lot of odd management decisions in my opinion. This is another one.

Saying "Somewhere around 100 million" is vague as hell. He could mean what it was at last year, more than last year, or way less. No one will really know till Terry Ryan digs his claws in.

Cut ticket prices too then. The Twins have been gouging the fans in their new park. Fans have shown up in record numbers. The fans reward. Not a Ace or two for a terrible starting staff. But word Pohlads are pinching pennies. Sell the team if you don't want to compete anymore. You can't just collect money. Fans will not support a team that played like the 2010 team did.

First they play like the 1981 Twins and now they're going to start easing the payroll back to set the organizational norms in stone. What a catastrophic mistake it was to give a girlscout a fifth of the payroll.

15% payroll cut after 99 losses ? Are tickets prices going down ? How about the price for beer and brats ? The sales tax surcharge that built the stadium for the Pohlad family seems to remain intact as well. These actions illustrate why Zygi needs to embrace the metrodome or move to LA.

Cut the payroll! Now I know why the Twins won't be signing any top free agents. More of the same for 2012. I feel that most Twins fans won't stand for another season of Mauer's part-time play. As for Morneau, he is done. Maybe Ryan can come up with a plan. During 2011 the Nationals had a nice offer on the table for pitching help in a trade for Span.

With this many holes (many caused by Bill Smith's decisions) the Twins really have not choice but to focus more of their resources on the minor leagues to try to rebuild them and get us back where we were earlier in the decade. I can understand why you would want to spend less on the major league roster and more on trying to get in top tier talent to develop. I also feel much more comfortable the Twins can be successful with that strategy now that Bill Smith isn't the one making the ultimate decision on that talent.

Great, just make sure that $15 million is put towards ticket price reductions to watch a sub par team the next few years. Or maye us it to buy Mauer and Morneau going away presents.
